Tak hanya dijadikan sebagai minuman penunda kantuk, kopi juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai masker untuk perawatan kulit. Ya, masker kopi ternayata menyimpan berbagai manfaat lainnya yang sayang untuk Anda lewatkan. Yuk, simak berbagai manfaat masker kopi dan panduan mudah membuatnya di bawah ini.
Manfaat masker kopi untuk kulit
1. Mencerahkan kulit
Dr. Julia Hunter, seorang dokter kulit di Beverly Hills, California mengatakan bahwa scrub kopi dapat membuka pori-pori yang tersumbat dan menyamarkan garis-garis halus di wajah.
Bahkan, kandungan asam dalam kopi juga dapat membantu mengangkat sel kulit mati (eksfoliasi) sementara memperlancar aliran darah ke jaringan kulit sehingga membuat kulit Anda tampak cerah bersinar.
Tentunya efek ini tidak bisa didapatkan langsung secara instan, melainkan butuh waktu tapi aman dan menyehatkan.
2. Mencegah kanker kulit
Menurut hasil penelitian yang diterbitkan oleh jurnal daring Proceeding National Academy of Sciences, kopi juga bermanfaat untuk mencegah kanker kulit. Penelitian yang dilakukan pada tahun 2011 ini menemukan bahwa senyawa kafein dalam kopi dapat melindungi kulit Anda dari risiko kanker kulit.
Menurut Erikka Loftfield, salah seorang peneliti dari Yale School of Public Health juga mengatakan hal yang serupa. Kopi dapat mengurangi efek paparan sinar matahari dan sinar UV pada kulit sehingga risiko Anda terkena kanker kulit pun terbilang lebih rendah.
Meski kopi dapat mencegah kanker kulit, namun penting untuk diperhatikan bahwa tidak ada cara yang lebih baik untuk melindungi kulit Anda dari paparan sinar matahari selain menggunakan sunscreen.
3. Memudarkan selulit
Efek kopi yang bertindak sebagai eksfoliator diduga dapat membantu menyamarkan selulit. Hal ini didukung oleh sebuah studi yang diterbitkan dalam Journal of Cosmetology pada tahun 2008.
Dalam studi tersebut diketahui bahwa krim penghilang selulit mengandung kafein yang bisa mengurangi selulit sebanyak 17 persen dari diameter sel lemak. Sementara krim yang mengandung siloxanetriol alginate caffeine (SAC) menunjukkan penurunan tampilan selulit hingga 26 persen.
Kopi yang dibuat menjadi scrub dapat membantu menyamarkan selulit dengan beberapa cara. Pertama diduga bahwa kafein dalam kopi yang dapat membantu melebarkan pembuluh darah sehingga dapat mengurangi munculnya selulit. Kedua, kopi juga kaya antioksidan yang dianggap dapat membantu memperbaiki tekstur kulit lebih sehat.
4. Mengusir mata panda
Ketika dioleskan pada kulit, kafein dapat membantu mengurangi munculnya mata panda alias kantung mata. Menurut pakar kesehatan kulit, Jeanette Graf, M.D, kafein dapat menyempitkan pembuluh darah di bawah kulit sehingga “bengkak” di bawah mata perlahan-lahan mereda.
Meski kafein tidak bisa sepenuhnya menghapus lingkaran hitam mata yang disebabkan faktor keturunan, mengoleskan kafein di bawah mata Anda akan mengempiskan bengkak dan peradangan yang terkait dengan lingkaran hitam. Selain itu, kafein juga bisa mengurangi penggumpalan darah di bawah mata yang menyebabkan mata panda.
Cara membuat masker kopi
Kandungan kafein memainkan peran besar agar Anda bisa meraih manfaat optimal dari masker kopi.
Oleh sebab itu, pastikan sebelum membuat masker kopi alami sendiri di rumah, Anda menggunakan kopi segar, bukan ampas ataupun kopi instan sachet. Pilih juga jenis kopi Robusta yang memiliki kandungan kafein dua kali lipat lebih banyak daripada kopi arabika.
Berikut panduan membuat masker kopi alami yang bisa Anda coba di rumah:
Cara 1
- Siapkan 1 cangkir bubuk kopi giling kasar dan 1 cangkir minyak kelapa murni (virgin coconut oil/VCO). Bisa juga menggantinya dengan minyak lain pilihan Anda, misalnya minyak zaitun.
- Campurkan semua minyak dan bubuk kopi giling ke dalam sebuah mangkuk. Jika Anda menggunakan minyak kelapa, Anda bisa cairkan minyak kelapa dalam microwave terlebih dahulu selama 20-30 detik.
- Aduk semua bahan menjadi adonan kasar.
- Anda bisa gunakan kuas khusus masker atau dengan tangan Anda.
- Oleskan secara merata masker kopi ke seluruh tubuh Anda, termasuk wajah dan daerah selulit, dengan pijatan gerakan melingkar.
- Biarkan selama beberapa menit, lalu bilas bersih dengan air hangat.
- Ulangi setidaknya seminggu dua kali
Cara 2
- Siapkan 2 sendok bubuk kopi giling dan 1 sendok yogurt plain.
- Campurkan semua bahan dalam sebuah mangkok.
- Oleskan secara merata masker kopi ke kulit wajah dan leher Anda.
- Pijat lembut di area tersebut dan diamkan selama beberapa menit.
- Bilas bersih dengan air hangat.
- Gunakan setidaknya dua kali seminggu.
Cara 3
- Siapkan 1 cangkir garam laut (sea salt) atau garam epsom, 2 sendok makan kopi bubuk, dan 1/4 cangkir minyak kelapa asli.
- Campurkan semua bahan dalam sebuah wadah lalu aduk-aduk.
- Di kamar mandi, oleskan masker kopi secara merata di seluruh tubuh dengan pijatan ringan yang melingkar.
- Perhatikan area yang kasar dan kering seperti siku dan lutut.
- Diamkan selama beberapa menit lalu bilas sampai bersih.
- Minyak kelapa mungkin akan membuat lantai atau bak mandi Anda licin, jadi harap berhati-hati.
